This tree is right in front of my place so I had to take a quick couple of photos right before the cars in the street began being covered in yellow leaves every morning.

It had been a while since visiting Victoria but I was there over the Christmas holidays. I had forgotten how close it is to the states. This photo of the American mountains was taken from the shore of Victoria.

As the sun rose between the two trees, the orange glow of the sunrise lit up these rocks giving them a bit of a glow.

The Baden Powell Trail is a 48 km hike across Vancouver’s north shore mountains. I have never tried to do it in one day but have done one part or another on different days. This was taken on the black mountain portion on a foggy summer morning.

Lens: Nikon 18-200mm lens

Galiano Island is between Vancouver and Vancouver Island, a sleepy little island just a short ferry ride away from Vancouver. Great place to visit for the weekend. This is my friend’s cottage that we stayed at while I was there.

Hidden Rock Wall

These days, the mountains to the North of Vancouver are mainly used for hiking and recreation but these mountains have a long history of logging. There are many remnants of the old days of logging, not just stumps of the massive trees that used to line British Columbia’s coast but also rubble from the buildings used during the logging.

I noticed this rubble of an old building overgrown while doing the brothers creek hike just north of West Vancouver.

Early Afternoon Sunset

In the winter, the sun goes down pretty early in Vancouver. This was taken at 4:30pm in mid November. The sun had already started to set which allowed me to use a slow shutter speed to get this cool looking water in the shot.

Camera: Nikon D5000
Lens: Tokina 12-24mm f/4 lens with a Nikon Polarizing Filter
Other Photo Gear Used: Slik Sprint Pro Tripod
Photo Processing Software used: Adobe Photoshop; Photomatix; Nik Color Efex Pro;
